K-ki & The Little Dröm Store

Mont Blanc & Antoinette

Word has gotten round. After reading about it in the newspapers, I decided I had to come visit this ‘lil store.

K-ki (pronounced as ‘K-kee’ – the Japanese word for ‘cake’) is one dainty ‘lil store, filled with minimalist lifestyle interior. Minimalism is modern beauty. Think Muji. K-ki shares one half of the store space for the cafe and has room for up to six dine-in guests; while The Little Dröm Store occupies the other half.

It was a Saturday, so they will close extra early – at 4pm. The friend and I reached at 3.30pm. We placed our order, then sat chatting, observing.

Coffee came with a piece of coconut cookie and a cute beaker of warm milk.

Mont Blanc: Piped chestnut cream swirls on the outside, and soft chiffon, fresh cream and chestnut bits inside. And all sitting on top of a tasty crumbly tart base.

Antoinette: White chocolate mousse with mango purée. Light and refreshing. I heart this!

There was no intention to rush guests to finish up even though the time had gone past four o’clock.

The Little Dröm Store is stocked up full of retro knick-knacks. These quaint items will bring you back to the nostalgic times of your school bookshop – ‘lil pot of glue and poster paints for art class; tin toys, film rolls and more. What caught my eye was this book that featured a collection of photographs taken in Japan, which I believe were taken by drömkeeper, Stanley Tan.

Easy-going and carefree, it’s a perfect place to day-dream away on a lazy afternoon and/or hang out with best friends for tea-time!
