Olives are essential in authentic Italian cuisine and in Mediterranean cuisines. They are added to salads, pasta sauces, or as a compliment to various meat or seafood dishes.

Spaghetti with Olives and Seafood (prawns) in tomato sauce

The spaghetti was firm and well cooked, the flavour of the olives and sundried tomatoes complimented the prawns and brought out the sweetness of the dish. I loved it!

Spaghetti Alla Carbonara with bacon and thick cheese cream.

This pasta dish was definitely richer, thanks to the thick cheese cream. A few mouthfuls was all I could manage, but it was good. I love Alla Carbonara in small portions.

And for desserts, we decided to go with the two of chef’s recommendations.

Firstly, the Traditional Tiramisu – neat layers of espresso-soaked sponge and cream that lined the rim of the coffee cup, with dusted cocoa powder to finish off. A choco stick with custard cream and a branch of redcurrents completed the look. It had just the right amount of liquid espresso, light texture to taste and not come across as being too rich.

Fruits’ Delight was another chef’s recommendation – kiwis, orange segments, bananas, apple cubes, pineapple, blueberries and redcurrents, lightly showered in fresh lemon juice for that extra citrus zest.

The staff were patient and attentive, great service and a wonderful dining experience.

DID YOU KNOW?

• In Italy, it is considered proper to eat pasta with only a fork, not using a fork together with a spoon.

• You can leverage by twirling the pasta while holding the tines of your fork against the edge of your plate.

• It is also fine to cut the pasta if twirling becomes too tedious.
